Chris Buescher Charges to Second Career Xfinity Series Win

Chris Buescher XfinityBuescher in his No. 60 Roush Fenway Racing, FORD Mustang charged to the front after a late race caution to win at Iowa Speedway. Buescher utilized his Roush Yates Engines power on a green-white-checkered finish to surge from third to first on the restart to capture the win.

“That was awesome,” said Buescher, “We knew we had a great race car all weekend and we can’t thank FORD enough. Everyone is really working well together.”

Buescher would grab the lead early at the start of the event. Over the next 150 laps, Buescher would battle back and forth with Chase Elliott for the lead. With three laps to go, the caution would appear and Buescher dove down pit road to the attention of his crew.

Buescher took two tires and restarted the race in the third position behind Elliott and Roush Fenway Racing teammate Ryan Reed. Buescher got a tremendous run on the inside, diving to the bottom making it three wide heading into turn 1. He would make the pass by the time the field made it out of turn 2 and power to a half second win over the field.

“We knew the front row had older tires,” said Buescher after the win, “We were able to get to the bottom, get by them and just drive away.”

Buescher led 94 laps in-route to his second career Xfinity Series win. Roush Fenway Racing now has five wins at Iowa Speedway in eleven races as Ricky Stenhouse has won three times, Trevor Bayne once and now Buescher with a win.

Five FORD’s finished in the Top-12 on Sunday as Chris Buescher won, Ryan Blaney finished fifth, Darrell Wallace Jr. in sixth, Elliott Sadler in ninth and Ryan Reed in twelfth.

With the win, Buescher took command of the Xfinity Series points by eight over Ty Dillon. All four of the Roush Fenway Racing cars are now in the top eight in points including Chris Buescher who is leading, Darrell Wallace Jr. in fourth, Elliott Sadler in seventh and Ryan Reed eighth in Xfinity Series points.
