Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 Get Dual High-Flow Air Filters with K&N Blackhawk Induction Air Intake

knWho doesn’t need a few more horsepower and a twist more torque in their sports and GT cars? The much-appreciated 3.7L 330-hp V6 in 2009-2016 Nissan 370Z and 2008-2013 Infiniti G37 coupes and sedans has plenty of heart, yet a K&N Blackhawk Performance Air Intake system upgrade can give it even more.

The 3.7L V6 was the 2008 replacement power plant for the Infiniti G37 that also fit perfectly into upgrade plans for the 2009 Nissan 370Z. In 2013, the IPL model G37 cranked out 348hp and for 2015, a stock 370Z’s horsepower was up to 332hp, while the Nismo model 370Z was tuned to produce 350hp. The combination of these powerful engines and some excellent design work has kept both vehicles selling well over the years. Owners generally glow in their assessment of these cars. “I don’t get into my car, I put it on. So fun to drive, especially when merging on the highway; you can pass other cars with ease. The car corners like its glued to the road and it dares you to push harder.” (we need to cite this quote somehow and credit the source) They will surely be ready to enjoy a more energetic engine response after installing a 71-7078 K&N Performance Air Intake system.

Released just this spring, the 71-7078 Blackhawk Induction air intake system has been shown to increase power by an estimated 9.31hp, and 6.94 lb-ft of torque in dynamometer testing of a stock 2009 3.7L in a 370Z at 6500rpm. This impressive dual-intake system is ready for owners or their tuners to install in their 370Zs and G37s. It is engineered to reduce restriction in the air intake, allowing the engine to inhale a larger amount of air than it could from the stock components. More air means more power and acceleration, and a bigger grin on the driver’s face.

The K&N 71-7078 Blackhawk Induction Air Intake System is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air intake system that replaces both factory air filters and air intake housings and is finished in a textured black powder-coated color scheme for an attractive look and durable finish.

The intake tube accommodates the 370Z and G37 factory mass air sensors and crankcase vent hoses. To ensure improved airflow, the system is fitted with dual oversized, washable and reusable K&N cone-shaped air filters made from black oil-free synthetic media. Depending on driving conditions, the filters can be used for up to 100,000 miles before they need to be cleaned. The entire kit also comes with K&N’s 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty.

The 71-7078 air intake is relatively easy to install in about 90 minutes, using the existing factory mounting points. The tool list in the instruction sheet includes basics that everyone should have on hand: flat blade and Phillips screwdrivers; ratchet and extension; 1mm and 10mm sockets; 3mm Allen wrench, 10mm wrench and pliers.

Visit the K&N website and view the 71-7078 vehicle applications to learn the CARB status for each vehicle.
