Hearing Health Company Adds New Model To Their Line Of World-Class Earplugs

ETYMOTICEtymotic Research, the originator of high-fidelity custom and readyfit Musicians Earplugs™ today announced that ER-20XS High-Fidelity Earplugs will debut at The Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference. The Midwest Clinic offers attendees involved in music education an array of clinics and exhibits, as well as access to music and teaching icons.

The new ER-20XS is the highly-awaited next generation of Etymotic’s industry-leading ETY•Plugs® High-Fidelity Earplugs. ER-20XS earplugs are smaller, more discreet and have the identical frequency response characteristics and performance of ETYPlugs® which have protected the ears of hundreds of thousands of musicians worldwide since their introduction. ER-20XS earplugs feature a low-profile, stem-less design that sits snugly in the outer ear without protruding. This makes it especially comfortable to wear under hats, helmets and other headgear. ER-20XS earplugs come with a small, flexible pull tab that allows for easy removal, an easy-to-install neck cord and a carrying case.

Hearing loss is a function of exposure time, average sound level and the peak level of very loud sounds. ER-20XS earplugs reduce noise to safe levels while preserving the clarity of speech and the richness of music. All of Etymotic’s high-fidelity earplug products are configured to replicate the natural response of the ear canal so that when sound enters the earplug, it is reproduced unchanged, the same as the ear would hear it, only quieter. Etymotic’s earplugs also improve musicians’ ability to hear their own instrument and their blend with others and reduce ear fatigue commonly associated with noise exposure.

“Long-term exposure to loud noise has a cumulative impact on hearing over our lifetime. For musicians, this problem is acute; in particular, marching band sound levels can reach peak levels of 110 decibels, where safe exposure time is less than 30 seconds without hearing protection,” said Dr. Gail Gudmundsen, Director of Audiology at Etymotic. “But the good news is that noise-induced hearing loss is totally preventable.”

Also featured at Midwest Clinic is Etymotic’s Adopt-a-Band program which for over 5 years has successfully protected the hearing of thousands of young musicians while teaching them about hearing wellness at an early age. The program’s mission is to ensure that music students, music educators, parents and performing musicians take proactive steps to preserve their hearing.
